Hillsboro ADA All-Inclusive Park

Friday, June 28, 2019 in Community and Youth Service

Now that the ground has been broken on the Hillsboro Community Center at 53rd Avenue, it is our hope that the next move will be an ADA All-Inclusive park. We, in the Rotary Club of Hillsboro in concert with the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro, hope to be involved in the building of this park in our community. To that end, we have committed and are holding $20,000 towards the creation of this wonderful entity!

After spending a great many years as occupants of the Tuality Education Center for our weekly Rotary Club meeting, we finally pulled out Our Foundation’s checkbook and also became a donor. We have been enthusiastically involved with the creation of the Family Justice Center of Washington County since before its opening in 2018. To date, we have donated $36,950 to support their efforts.

This program hopes to provide training, public awareness, and hopefully, an end of this horrific blight. In our inaugural year, we will be furnishing information and soap to seventeen hotels in the Hillsboro area.

Adopt a Park

A few years ago Our Club adopted Rood Bridge Park. We chose The River House. We had our first Park Clean Up in August of that year. An unprecedented number of volunteers showed up, despite the threat of very nasty weather. We weeded, pruned trees, raked, and overall 30 volunteers worked tirelessly for 3 hours, for a total of 90 labor hours to make the River House look spectacular. Luckily this was the first in what has become many outings at Rood Bridge Park!

Stockings for Children

Monday, September 28, 2015 in Community and Youth Service

Our club has partnered with the Salvation Army in an effort to give Christmas Stockings to children of the needy. Many of these children had never had the thrill of receiving a Christmas stocking. This has been an overwhelming success. This year the hope is to not only fill the stockings, but to expand the number that we fill.
